TMI / THE TEST WE GIVE AWAY

SEVENTEEN QUESTIONS
ABOUT YOUR OWN
COMPANY.

If somebody asked you these right now, could you answer them in under sixty seconds? Not find out by this afternoon. Answer. These are the Data Visibility questions out of the Intelligent Company Audit, word for word, and they are the part you can run on yourself without us in the room.

One rule: “I would have to ask someone” is a no.

THE SEVENTEEN

START THE CLOCK.

Go down the list and mark each one yes or no. There is nothing to add up at the end and nowhere to send it. We never see your answers, and we are not going to give you a number about your own company that you made up yourself.

MONEY IN

  1. Revenue todayNot this month. Today.
  2. Revenue this monthTo the day, without opening three things.
  3. Open quotesHow many are live right now.
  4. Total quote valueWhat the pipeline is actually worth.

WORK IN THE BUILDING

  1. Jobs currently activeEverything open, in one number.
  2. Jobs behind scheduleWhich ones, and how far behind.
  3. Upcoming capacityWhat you could take on next week.
  4. Inventory shortagesWhat is about to stop a job.

WHAT IT EARNS

  1. Gross margin by jobPer job, not an average across the year.
  2. Most profitable serviceBy margin, not by revenue.
  3. Least profitable serviceThe one you would be better off not selling.
  4. Outstanding invoicesWho owes you, and for how long.

WHO AND WHAT IS CARRYING IT

  1. Best customerBy what they are worth, not by who calls most.
  2. Customer concentrationWhat share of revenue your largest account is.
  3. Labour utilisationHow much of what you pay for is on billable work.
  4. Equipment utilisationWhat is earning and what is parked.
  5. Sales pipelineWhat is coming, with enough detail to plan around.

Most owners get through the first four and slow down. The ones that stop people are rarely the complicated ones.

WHAT IT MEANS

THE SCORE IS NOT THE POINT.
THE SILENCE IS.

Almost every established company we look inside has the information. What it does not have is anything that reads the information together, which is why a question with a one-word answer takes somebody half a day.

IF YOU ANSWERED MOST OF THEM

Your systems are feeding you. The audit will be looking somewhere else: at what the company knows that is not written down, and at what the records could be worth.

IF YOU HAD TO ASK SOMEBODY

That is the finding, and it is the common one. The data exists. It is sitting in accounting, in the job files, in a spreadsheet and in somebody's head, and nothing is reading it together.

IF NOBODY COULD ANSWER

The answer still exists inside the company. It has just never been connected to anything, which is what the first part of the audit is for.

THE PRINTABLE VERSION

TAKE IT
TO THE FLOOR.

One page, nothing to fill in and nobody to give your address to. Print it and put it in front of the person who would have to go and find the answers.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

Not a quiz
No number at the end
We never see your answers

FREE, UNGATED, AND IT STAYS THAT WAY.

BEFORE YOU ASK

FAIR
QUESTIONS.

Is this a scorecard?
No, and that is deliberate. There is no self-serve scorecard or quiz on this site. We do not ask you to count your answers and we never see them, because a number you generate about yourself is worth very little. The point of the seventeen is the sixty seconds you spend failing to answer one of them.
Where do the questions come from?
They are the Data Visibility section of the Intelligent Company Audit, word for word. Nine other areas sit alongside it in the real instrument. This is the part an owner can run on themselves without us in the room.
What do you want for it?
Nothing. There is no form on this page and no address to leave. If the questions are useful, use them; if they are not, you have lost a minute.
So what does TMI actually produce?
A roadmap, and you can read a finished one before you ever speak to us. It is the real deliverable, written out in full on a company we invented so that none of it has to be held back.

The other nine areas of the instrument are published too, scored end to end on a company we invented on purpose → What the audit is →
